I really enjoyed listening to Brenda Wong Aoki perform a Queen's Garden. I often find it difficult to read plays because I cannot hear all of the different characters' voices on my own. Although she is the only performer in the play, she does an excellent job of making each character have a distinct voice and accent. This is particularly important and effective in that due to each character's ethnic background, adding an accent adds to the character's identity. In Kali's case for example, it is especially important that he has is depicted with a thick accent because there are several times where other characters (Sherry in particular) comment on his accent.
Although this was just an audio recording of her performance, I really felt as though I could see her acting. She is very clear in her manner of speaking and you can almost hear her movements. The play also calls for sounds on stage and you can hear her follow these stage directions.

In all, I think her performance of this play is especially effective because as the playwright, she knows what each word, sound, and movement is supposed to convey. It is being performed exactly as it was intended to. It's also impactful because this story contains autobiographical information so there is a strong connection between the text and her acting.
